Two ways to get involved.
There is a referee shortage across Super Liga, and TYS needs more local officials. Kids and adults can join either path if they meet its requirements. Rec is a great way for young referees to begin.

Held at the Tiverton Library. Training dates will be shared with interested families.

Follow TYS's local training requirements. The competitive US Soccer certification course is not required for rec.

- Connect with TYS.Share availability and receive guidance on suitable rec assignments.
COMPETITIVE Train and certify
- Tell us you're interested.Complete the form and select Competitive or Both.
- Enroll in the new-referee course.You must be at least 13 when certifying. Create an account in the US Soccer Learning Center, then follow RISRC's certification instructions.
- Complete coursework and the field session.Finish required online work, attend the in-person session and pass the test. Adults 18+ must meet applicable background-check and safety-training requirements.
- Receive course-fee reimbursement.TYS reimburses the competitive course fee once you complete the course and pass the test. Keep your receipt.
- Arrange game assignments.Contact the TYS referee coordinator for assignment access, availability and equipment guidance.
Submitting the interest form does not enroll you in a certification course or guarantee game assignments. TYS handles recreational assignments; competitive games follow Super Liga's town and regional assigning system.
What can referees earn?
Pay is per official, per game. A center (head) referee manages the game on the field. Assistants support the center from the touchline, signaling the ball out of play and offside where applicable.

New referees receive assignments appropriate to their experience.
TYS helps cover the cost.
Pay course and uniform costs upfront and keep your receipts. Course fees and uniforms have different reimbursement requirements.

TYS reimburses the competitive referee course fee once the participant has completed the course and passed the test.
No season or game requirement applies to the course refund.
The new-referee course is currently advertised at $60; confirm the final fee at registration. Adult background checks and other charges may be additional.

TYS reimburses referee uniform costs after the applicable season is completed and the participant has refereed multiple games for TYS.
